STM32MP1 System-On-Module Power Consumption Print

This application note provides information on theoretically calculated power consumption of the STM32MP1 SOM, as well as some data on power consumption of the SOM measured in practical tests.

The following table provides information on power consumption of the SOM measured in practical tests performed by Emcraft. These numbers are for the SOM itself only (draw @ 3.3V). Power consumed by any components on the baseboard is not accounted for:

SOM Configuration Test Power Consumption
1GB DDR3L,
4GB eMMC,
1Gb Ethernet PHY
Linux up and running,
GUI on LCD,
CPU under heavy load
350 mA
1GB DDR3L,
4GB eMMC,
1Gb Ethernet PHY
Linux up and running,
GUI on LCD,
NFS copy over Ethernet
292 mA
1GB DDR3L,
4GB eMMC,
1Gb Ethernet PHY
Linux up and running,
GUI on LCD,
Ethernet configured,
Ethernet cable unplugged,
Linux idle at shell on serial console
209 mA

To provide an upper limit on possible power consumption of the module, here is the Theoretically Calculated Max Power Consumption of the STM32MP1 System-On-Module.

Note: The currently available ST data sheets do not provide data regarding power consumption of the STM32MP157 processor. The "Theoretically Calculated Max Power Consumption" table will be made available as soon as that data becomes available from ST.
